Brain Building Games
Brain building games have become increasingly popular over the last few years. They can be found and played for free on cell phones, online, and even downloaded for free. They have permeated the game market for every conceivable game station handheld or otherwise and are still a presence in newspapers, journals, magazines and activity books.
While to a lot of people, it is just fun or they are just good at certain types of mind puzzles, but it is good to learn to play several of them or the purpose of teaching your brain to solve more than one type of problem. Playing video games can help as well so long as a few conditions are met. Turning off the hints can keep you from cheating yourself and your mind.

Hints that are offered in video game versions of brain building games can have a greater impact than the game itself. A study was conducted on a group of 10 year old school children. Some of these children were given brain games to play with a paper and a pen, while the other children were given the video game versions. Shockingly enough, the results for brain functions like memory were different by 40% between the two groups of kids.
The children playing the video game versions actually showed a 7% decline in memory functions while the pen and paper using children showed an increase of an unbelievable 33%. While in many cases this is enough for most parents to go back to the ‘video games rot your brain’ rules, this study did not specify which game they kids were playing or what game they played.
With children as well as adults there is one extremely important point that must be remembered. If the method is not fun or interesting, it does not make the process exciting enough for a person regardless of age to want to continue. If someone is intent on improving their brain function, that may be motivation enough, but results show that the more a person s into what they are doing, the more fun they are having doing it can make the difference in the actual amount of mental stimulation they get from the brain building games.
